(I got nudged this week by theroades. I appreciate that and now reciprocate; back at you man!)
It’s summer, I’m not taking any classes and so I’m not posting much… but that is not to say I’m not reading much.
This is a few weeks old now, but read in the Chronicle of Higher Ed, Universities Are Corporatized Because They Are Secularized by C. John Sommerville. Sommerville is Professor of History, Emeritus at University of Florida and on the Board of the Christian Study Center.
Learned about Blaine Amendments this week. As a Protestant, I am deeply ashamed of this chapter of American history in which Protestants engaged in fear mongering and used their majority power to discriminate against Catholics. We have reaped what we sowed.
Redeemer University College professor David Koyzis has been on a roll this week.
- D. G. Hart and ‘world-and-life-viewitis’ on his blog: Notes from a Byzantine-Rite Calvinist (thanks to jakebender bringing to my attention)
- Religion and democracy: Habermas vs. Flores d’Arcais in Comment.
Finally, some fun: John Hodgman (AKA PC, as in “Hello, I’m a PC”) on Obama’s nerd credentials and there is always JibJab: He’s Barack Obama

You’re being nudged again! By the way, that JibJab was HILARIOUS!
